We encourage you to hang out your laundry. If your neighborhood doesn't allow it, fight that silly rule!

See how the bottom part of this sweet little apron is faded? Someone [whose initials are Jane McLean] left it out on the clothesline too long.

[10] Sunny, breezy days are ideal for hanging laundry using your solar clothes dryer [AKA clothesline].
[9] Using a snap of your wrists, shake out your laundry to get the big wrinkles out.
[8] If it's hot, buggy, or windy, shake out and sort your laundry before going out to the clothesline.
[7] The sun will fade dark or bright colors. Turn those items inside-out, or hang them inside.
[6] You might want to hang your underwear and anything delicate inside.
[5] A little rain won't hurt your laundry. A lot of rain will drag it down, stretch your knits, and take forever to dry.
[4] Don't leave your wooden clothespins on the clothesline. They'll get splintery and leave gray marks on your clothes.
[3] Bring in your clothespin bag. Sun will fade it, and rain will rot it.
[2] A bird dropping or a few bugs won't hurt your laundry. Just flick them off.
[1] Fold your laundry as you take it down so you won't have a big wrinkled mess. Enjoy the lovely clean smell!

We live in an old farmhouse in Upstate New York. We love country living and penny-pinching.
