HOW TO CARE FOR OUR PRODUCTS
Q: What are PinchPenny Threads products made of?
A. Most of our products are made of cotton that has been washed and dried. Sometimes we use pieces of linen, polyester-cotton blend, polyester batting, or other fabrics. Most items are machine-washable and machine-dryable. Please avoid using chlorine bleach as it will fade the colors.
Q: Are PinchPenny Threads products made of wool?
A: We rarely use wool, animal fiber [such as alpaca hair], or silk, as we are sensitive to these fibers. Also, fabrics made of animal fibers usually require special care, such as hand washing.
Q: Will PinchPenny Threads products need to be ironed?
A: They may need to be touched up, especially apron ties and pieces of linen. We line our aprons and tea towels to reduce wrinkling.
Q: What if my PinchPenny Threads product is made of vintage linens or fabric, like a feedsack apron, embroidered table runner, or repurposed tablecloth?
A: We suggest you wash it gently. You should treat stains quickly and gently.
Q: Are there any PinchPenny Threads products I shouldn't wash?
A: Yes. Some items contain plant matter that should stay dry. Funkins (fun pumpkins) have corn or wood pellet stuffing and wooden stems. Lavender sachets contain lavender buds. Pincushions are stuffed with crushed walnut shell.
Q: Can I wash and dry my knit PinchPenny Threads products?
A: We knit with cotton, cotton-acrylic blend, or acrylic yarns. You can wash and dry them gently.
Q: Can I wash and dry PinchPenny Threads products made from repurposed woven plastic seed sacks?
A: We suggest hosing them off or sponging them clean. They're not very flexible and might not behave in your washer. Keep them away from heat! Don't iron them [Jane learned the hard way], and don't wear your chores apron near the grill.
Q: Can I hang my PinchPenny Threads products on the clothesline?
A: By all means! However, you might want to hang bright colors away from the sun. Also, don't leave your items out in the sun or rain too long, as the colors may fade and the stitching may become weakened. See Phoebe's Top Ten Rules for hanging out laundry.
